The school was formed in 1948 from the senior department of Stockton Heath Council School. In January 1953 it moved to new premises at Broomfields Road. In 1977 the school became Stockton Heath County High School. In 1987 it was amalgamated with Appleton Hall County High School to form Bridgewater County High School
